Posted: May 05, 2008 A colorful, eye-catching image! Thankyou for posting one of my Oregon coast photos- it's a beautiful part of the world. Best Regards
There's something very special about your work that I can't quite put my finger on...especially the nursery rhymes. The pictures themselves are bursting with energy, light and colour, but there's more to it than that. Almost all nursery rhymes are obsessed with dark, disturbing themes....Death, murder, kidnapping, abuse, plague and a host of other horrors all feature regularly, but have always been presented in a way designed to educate children about the wickedness of the world (minus the nastiness)....a kind of Fox TV for the Middle Ages! Your paintings don't have so much as a hint of nastiness either, but somehow they illustrate the stories brilliantly and are as good as anything I've ever seen! Like I say, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I'm willing to bet that the likes of H C Andersen and the Grimm brothers who later rejuvenated many such stories would have been delighted with your work!
